About me
I'm Fredrik: a Gestalt coach, associate consultant, and someone who has been on the other side of the work I now facilitate.
I am Swedish by birth and have lived in West Yorkshire for over a decade. Before founding The Embodied Coach, I worked as a Global Client and Project Manager with a leadership development consultancy, and have spent years working alongside Christina Dennis at WDR Limited, a UK-based learning and development practice.
My earlier career took me from the Swedish Foreign Office to law firms and FTSE 100 organisations in London, working across different cultures, professions and environments. I have also spent several years as project lead on a systems-change platform focused on United Nations SDG 5: gender equality and the elimination of gender-based violence.
Across those very different settings, one thing has remained constant: my curiosity about people - how we relate, how we respond to change, what gets in our way, and what becomes possible when we begin to notice what is actually happening.
What brought me to coaching was not a plan. It was a crisis.
After years of working at an unsustainable pace, I experienced complete medical exhaustion and was out of action for eighteen months. That period, painful, disorienting and profoundly necessary - changed the trajectory of my life.
I learned, slowly and sometimes the hard way, the importance of awareness. Of becoming present to what is actually happening, in our bodies, our emotions, our relationships and our habitual ways of responding, rather than continually pushing past what we notice.
That experience eventually led me towards Gestalt and to a different understanding of change.
I don't believe coaching is about somebody else telling us who we should become. I believe it begins with becoming more aware of who we are, where we are, and what is happening now.
That is what I bring to my clients: professional experience and training, certainly, but also curiosity, presence and a lived understanding of what it means when the way forward is no longer obvious.
I work with clients worldwide. Sessions are available virtually, or face-to-face by arrangement.
The work is confidential, unhurried and shaped around what you actually need. You do not need to arrive with the answer, or even with a perfectly formed question. Sometimes discovering the question is where the work begins.
I hold accreditations in Gestalt Coaching, Positive Psychology Coaching, LGBTQ+ Coaching and Journaling. I am also a Samaritans Listening Volunteer.
